Vanessa Arizaga.

Yes, Sarah Molloy this is thanks to you again! (And a happy birthday to YOU!)

Just received a new one in my inbox, Venessa Arizaga....'I like to think of each piece I create as a treasure and a good luck charm, something special you want to keep close to you to reflect upon good times and evoke your fondest memories.'

Vennesa's love of fashion runs in equal measures to her passion for travel, from beach holidays to back packing amongst rocky mountains, spending summers in the Caribbean to weekend breaks in New York, she has an urge to discover what's new out their to incorporate in her individual creations. After graduating in 2003, Vennesa's talent was recognised rapidly ensuring her place as a designer at Tuleh, then Carolina Herrera and most recently Design Director at Zac Posen, whilst all the time dreaming of exploring her own aesthetic, under her own name and creative vision.

On a trip to Puerto Rico in 2007, inspired by the sheer natutral beauty of the beaches and the reaxed island culture, Venessa began spontaneously, hand making jewellery, using colourful silk threading to weave sea shells, natural stones and a viraety of charms with chains and settings, the end result were whimsical necklaces, each with a different story. These hand made peices were to become the basis of her first collection of Venessa Arizaga jewellery. I love the use of chuncky chains interwoven with rainbow silk threads, the sea and natural materials such as stones and crystals making each peice unique.

Since the jewellery collection began as an extracurricular hobby from her day job in fashion, it has been picked up by Berdorg Goodman, Ashley Turen and other speciality boutiques. In May 2010 Arizaga took the leap to leave Posen to focus full time on her collections. Venessa continues to find inspiration in her travels, constantly collecting trinkets, shells, ceramics as touches to her jewllery from exoctic locales in her carry-on top create unique peices with a bohemian spirit.
