Turquoise.

Turquoise: An opaque blue-to-green mineral that is a hydrous phosphate of copper and aluminium (too much information for me, but I wanted to to know the definition!) It is rare and valuable in finer grades and has been prized as a gem and ornamental stone for thousands of years owing to its unique hue. The substance has been known by many names but the word turquoise, which dates to the the 16th century is derived from an old French word for 'Turkish' because the mineral was first brought to Europe from Turkey, from the mines in historical Khorasan Province of Persia.

I absolutely love loads of jewellery as I repeat over and over again, however if I was looking at a whole range of jewellery say in a market? Turquoise always stands out to me, I love it, with the silver it has that hippy sort of look, that Spells Blog, http://spellsjewllery.blogspot.com/ manage to create over and over again, and with gold it has that rich, exuberant look that I equally love. Its my favourite in all forms, rings, necklaces, bracelets, just as more or less anything, the colour compliments so many different skin tones and even when it is amongst loads of other pieces it stands out explicitly.

Having just come back from Ibiza, I think I can probably blame the weight of my hand luggage on the bag of jewellery I took with me, but to me you can never have enough on, it used to be my Dad laughing at me as I walked out the door asking if I could fit anymore on, now its my boyfriend saying maybe take a few off??? NOOOOOO

Love Locks.

Flying back from Ibiza I was reading the usually boring, mundane brochures sitting in the pocket in front of you just for something to do to kill a few moments and came across the Love Padlocks pictured in Paris, what a thoughtful idea, I didnt realise that when I would type it into Google it would actually have a Wikipedia entry.....Love Padlocks also known as Love Locks are a custom by which padlocks are affixed to a fence, gate, bridge or similar public fixture and most often affixed by sweethearts to symbolize their everlasting love.

Love padlocks have existed in quite some time, though there are no certain sources for the origin. In Europe love padlocks started appearing in the early 2000s, the reasons for these appearing varies between different locations, and in many instances are unsourced. However, in Rome the ritual of affixing love padlocks to the bridge Ponte Milvio can be attributed to the book I Want You by Italian author Federico Moccia.

There are also supertitions linked to these love locks, some affixed over cities train stations known as wish locks, local legend holds that the magnetic feild generated by trainspassing underneath will cause energy to accumulate in the loacks and fulfill the wishes.

YMC. You. Must. Create.

Formed in London in 1995 ny Fraser Moss and Jimmy Collins in response to increasing demand for stylish, functional, modern clothing. YMC has quietly grown to become a highly significant design label.

When asked how he saw the future of design, graphic artist Raymond Loewy, pioneer of American Industrial Design reasoned that 'you must create your own design style' it is this philosophy that inspires YMC.

YMC are not led or influenced ny seasonaltrends but try too provide the solution for intelligent clothing that is both wearable and distinctive. Collections gradually develop from season to season whilst a modernist approach ensures good ideas maintain longevity.

You Must Create.
