First Show: Richard Nicoll.
My friend Sarah who works at Liberty text me this morning asking me if I would be interested in going to see the Richard Nicoll show at Somerset House at London Fashion Week....Of course! This would be the first show I've seen so excited doesn't even justify this feeling. As I research designers just out of interest I thought looking at the background behind Richard Nicoll would be for an extra special reason. It seems as a designer he was a success from the very beginning, since graduating from the Central Saint Martins MA in 2002 he has continuously been lauded for his work. Experience includes freelance consulting alongside Marc Jacobs and Louis Vuitton, being awarded three ANDAM prizes (I will have to look this up!) and being named 'Best Young Designer' at the Elle Style awards. He has taken position of Creative Director of Womenswear at Cerruti, design director of womenswear for Fred Perry's premium line and has launched his 7th best-selling capsule collection for Topshop.
Jo Knight joined Nicoll as his business partner in 2005, he is currently stocked in Dover St Market in London, Colette in Paris and Barneys NYC.
I was just looking through the Resort 2013 collection I love the simplicity and pure white colour palette with the inclusion of bright, fresh colours and both blocks and patterned. The detail of structured collars inoffensive intrusive thigh high splits balanced with a longer hem. I much prefer dresses with a structured silloete as opposed to more flowing fabrics with the stiff sleeve's that remain in shape. Lastly, the shoes, to me that is the most perfect shoe shape, elegant and sophitcated not taking any limelight of the clothes instead continuing the simple cuts right down to the footwear.
I bought a similar shape dress in Topshop Boutique.

The Beautiful Buildings.
Not working in the creative industry its not essential for me to grab hold of inspiration and extend it into a creation of my own. However, having said that I was looking through Ida Rislow's blog and these pictures were too overwhelming to just flick through, I would like to see actual evidence of this collection of images being used as inspiration and what it would produce....
Baroque.
When I think of the word baroque I envision the collection by Dolce & Gabanna I associate the word with imagery as opposed to an actual meaning. So Wikipedia completed the image with a newly learnt definition. The Baroque is a period of artistic style which started in 1600 in Rome, using vast details and grandeur in the form of sculptures, paintings, architecture and music. The style was appreciated by the Roman Catholic Church and aristocracy, which used the dramatic style as a means of impressing visitors and expressing triumphant power and control, I like the idea of this feeding through into fashion especially, you can see this empowerment taken literally in the form of the strong, confident Italian women in the Dolce and Gabanna campaigns.
The procession in the show must of been something along the lines of breathtaking, this represented Sicilian Baroque for all the beauty it is made up of in the form of gold-stucco ornateness. Gold, now this is the colour I most associate with this style in terms of fashion, the gold details that slithered up black wool capes, across dresses, down shorts and around the toes of heels worn with black lace socks.
So from the highest level of glamour to me shopping in TkMaxx, the link? These gold velvet trousers......

Columbine Smille.
I've wrote down in my notepad that I need to research what Freshnet actually is as it seems to have the most perfect layout for all the blogs that are associated with this and has also picked the best of the bunch in terms of bloggers, I love the style of Elin Kling and I have only found Columbine Smille today and I cant stop looking through it! I've also tried to sign up to subscribe to Elin's magazine Styleby, I cant wait to have a look through all the shoots, as I love how they are styled, so simple but perfect. These outfits are just unreal.....

Hope.
I found this jumper on the Afterdrk blog, the jumper was featured on Elin Kling's blog with the link to where it was purchased, Hope. A Swedish label created and run by the designers Ann Ringstrand and Stefan Soderberg, the first women collection was launched in Autumn 2002. The first brand shop opened in Stockholm, Sweden in 2006, followed by six more Hope shops. The Hope collection is also sold by over 200 exclusive retailers and 15 markets. It begun as a creative discussion between two friends Ann and Stefan who both are passionate and extremely interested in well-made utility wear. 'We began be redesigning vintage uniforms and traditional Mens jackets into womens wear using unexpected fabrics. After presenting a small test collection in autumn of 2001 we got the positive response necessary to launch Hope to the market in 2002.'
Poppy's Dress.
What a dress for both the guest Poppy and the bride at Lady Mary Chateris wedding to boyfriend Big Pink frontman Robbie Furze at the brides fathers Earl of Wemyss estate Stanway House in Gloucestershire.
