Eudon Choi.

In all fairness big (meaning alot of readers) bloggers are a significant platform to promote more or less anything for designers. My boyfriend always comments when I say something that is just plain obvious, which I've just managed to do again, I guess that's how the whole blogging/designer working relationship works just another form of advertisement reaching out to further audiences. Now its not for me to really delve into this and work out exactly what is going on here I suppose I am just curious as for me my blog is just something on the side, even though I wish with all my heart it was my actual living, for some bloggers, correct me if I'm wrong here, it is their actual 'job' however surely the blog is just a written narrative of their working life as a fashion writer/stylist/some other fashion related role? Well anyway, that's me just writing my thoughts out loud getting back to the whole point of this post basically I would not have found out about the designer Eudon Choi, or his work without seeing it on Sabrina's blog because fashion is just an interest of mine things that I find out about have to appear in the most popular sources, Vogue/Elle etc... not to say that's all I read as I love to read new things and constantly use the internet and follow all my favourite blogs so seeing these coats on her blog I was an immediate/instant fan of this unknown (to me) designer. I suppose to give my lazy self some credit when I do find something I like I do follow through and research more into it to obtain some knowledge not necessarily remembering the most factual information usually more interesting aspects such as inspiration 'For his AW12 collection, titled Terra Nova, Choi took the audience to Antarctica via the polar expedition of Captain Scott,I take the practicality and strong silhouette of the menswear element but then rework it for a woman," Choi says. "I think the perfect coat should offer a real sense of protection and be really practical. You want to be able to throw it on over any outfit, even jeans and a t-shirt .... and still look effortlessly chic.' Or I do love a story oh how they have jumped up the ladder to be in the position to launch their own collections. I used to read through and write my research up in my own words, now I'm becoming increasingly obsessed with the inclusion of links, so you read what I read. And it was all triggered by these two beautiful coats.....

Spent the afternoon catching up on another favourite blog who has introduced me to this website so then continued to spend my afternoon in fictional mode adding anything I liked to a make believe basket with no intention of following up and commiting to it all via the checkout. So lets not let it go completly to waste here is what I would of bought in reality if I was feeling a but wild you know, them crazy moments and all that you only live once and so on...

Love Aesthetics

Although I'm into the whole making your own things in terms of customising or simply accessories on their own, lately I've preferred the whole simplistic approach DIY reminds me now of organised chaos, things that have been put together but are on edge of falling apart when worn and just overall far from perfection and not a patch on buying something brand new and fully secure. Having said that I have to emphasis here that obviously I'm not talking about professionals, they are in a different ball game altogether their DIY is something that most of the time I couldn't even dream of affording that even seeing these pieces in real life and the feel of them conjures up their talent and skills that should not even be associated with the title DIY its not a case of trying with a result of pulling it of or giving up its a complete talent in its own right. Here I go again contradicting everything I've just written, this post is actually about DIY, but justifiably this is making your own things that could not look anymore simplistically pleasing, this blog Love Aesthetics in most cases opposite to my usual taste however every DIY post I have read on this I find just perfect, even more so than what I could purchase and this is mainly due to the clean sharp lines, no fussiness and immaculate appearance. Her minimalist approach is shown in her style as a whole on the blog, from the way she photographs objects to the layout and her writing approach. For now I'll admire them from a far and maybe soon when I'm in the right mood maybe attempt just one of them, even her instructions are simply perfect. A travel wallet...

Tim Walker: Story Teller.

Now I'll be completely honest obviously I have heard Tim Walker's name flying about and with such a distinctive style even my in expertise with regards to fashion photography could most probably spot his work amongst others due to his ability to create something magical in each of his images 'he has a way of marrying myth and fiction with what we already know, making for unreal visions that resemble those distorted fragments of dreams you try and hang onto after waking up.' That is the best description that puts into words what he creates visually, 'extravagant in scale and ambition instantly recognisable for their eye opening originality.' I never normally visit exhibitions but this in one I cant wait to see and experience at Somerset House, Walker's photographs provide the focus of the exhibition and reading reviews it includes some of the props used in the shoots and a screening room showing films and behind-the-scenes footage of Walker at work. Walker claims the camera 'is simply a box put between you and what you want to capture.' Yes I suppose this is literally what is it, but the 'what you want to capture' is where Walker performs as some sort of genius what sort of imagination and ideas go on inside your head to create such visually exciting images everything in his pictures is specially constructed it amazes me that even the extraordinary props he envisions have not been chosen but actually imagined. When I think of a photo shoot I picture a team, models and a chosen location Walker's shoots begin to resemble a film set, hair and make up artists, fashion stylists, costumer fitters, model makers, set designers, builders, producers and painters, prop suppliers and a cast of models playing out imagined roles, the end result being captured by Walker in a singular picture. My task for the moment is to research and uncover the influences and stories behind Tim Walker's work, no doubt I will find out even more on Saturday also, for the time being here is a bloggerwho has visited the exibition and her photos, I will update mine once I'm back.
