The finishing touch to any outfit, an instant individual look, a slight indication of mere personality characteristics, and all down to that specific colour you chose to paint your nails that day. Now, that may be a slightly dramatised version of what your nail colour says about your character, but its a justified point that I am prepared to propose. At present, many of us who are not directly involved in the Fashion World, who were all working away preparing summaries of the trends seen at the various fashion shows way back last year, are currently being presented with the fast emerging Spring/Summer collections. And although I thoroughly enjoy, admiring all of these beautifully designed pieces, and waiting for the High Street to provide me with all the copy-cat representations of the real thing, as unfortunately the attached price tags prevent me from owning my whole REAL wish list, there are some, admittedly very small, trends that I can take directly from the Fashion Houses catwalk's and adapt into my own wardrobe accordingly, and that is the 'The SS11 Nail Trends.'
Although I feel there are no rules, no right or wrong, choices of colour for your nails it is always refreshing to be introduced to a whole new spectrum of colours and designs to try out and compliment our summer wardrobes perfectly. And agreed, them bright , neon, florescent, colours will not be left behind as they are the ultimate accompaniment to our sun-kissed skin on holiday, as well as the pale pinks, particulere's and natural colours working perfectly well for a more toned down look and equally the dark red's for a more mature, formal look when needed and all topped up with a satisfying layer of shiny top coat for that immaculate finish.
Lets be introduced to our new summer paints, admittedly quite subtle on some occasions and considerably toned down compared to some of the recent designs I have come across being designed by the likes of WAH Nails, creating various designs and even introducing textures to the nails, not a fan personally, but am equally appreciating the innovative ideas displayed on many finger tips.
Evident from the clothes there were various references to 70's specially the Studio 54 era, big frizzy hair, golden tans and all alongside beautiful nails. We also had extremes with some Houses choosing to use dark lipped models down the catwalk, with matching nails, a strange trend from the beauty side as we don't usually encounter matching nails to lip colour. There was a frosted, dead feel to the nails using frosted whites and pale blues from the likes of Alexander Wang and Vivienne Westwood.
Metallic colours were extremely popular, used at Balmain, Holly Fulton, Anna Sui and House of Holland, exposed in various colours, including the more obvious gold and metal greys aswell as dark greens, blacky blues and purples.
Glitter! Glitter! Glitter! Yes, flashes of glitter on the nails were seen sparkling their way down various catwalks including, Bagedly Mischa and Balmain, mainly solely on its own, however there was occasions where a nude base coat was painted with
gold glitter transforming the plain look.
There are also more brights heading our way for the summer, Mint green, Salmon pink, and Uniform blue, demonstrated at Rococoo, Miomia, and Dior.
There were few contenders that we have previously come across, pale pastel lilacs, and taupe's, and for the 'french tip' lovers there a new take on the original manicure pink.
Nails...you've got many colours befriending you this summer....

Honestly, I think we can get the style of house person the way he paints his nails :-) My style is undoubtedly the red and all its variations ... but I must confess not dislike the gold or blue nail of feet ... this summer I'll risk in these colors ... lol
ReplyDeleteI loved the post and thanks for the comments you left on my blog :-)

I'm obsessed with the last picture,in particular; the nail art is imaculate. Personally, i admit guilty to being a nail polish junkie, but it is true, it does define an aspect of your personality. As always, Great post! X Neda X

Am not a big fan of prints on nails but the last picture made me believe. I love the glitter nail lacquers but i love to use a lot of rings and bracelets and am afraid to look to barroque. besos.

I alwayw put on nailpolish in every colour possible :) Though I don't like much other than just one color/maybe a two tone nail, but the 'art' on nails certainly isn't for me... Love this post!
